Some of my favorites

Watching Christmas movies with my family is one of my favorite things to do. We watch so many during December.  Here are some of my favorites.

The Santa Clause:

This is my family's favorite Christmas movie. Every year we sit down on our couch with our popcorn and drinks and watch this Christmas classic. It has everything you want.  Tim Allen is a riot and really gives a heartfelt performance.  The music is perfect and the story isn't too sappy.  The movie has classic lines that you will find yourself repeating throughout the day.  It's a good family movie that you don't see much anymore. It's really hard to top this movie because it is a beloved classic.  I highly recommend seeing it if you haven't already.

Elf:

I remember seeing this in theaters many years ago with my family.  I had never heard them laugh so hard.  The entire theater was roaring with laughter.  This was my first time seeing a Will Ferrell movie.  I had seen him on some SNL skits and thought he was hysterical.  This movie has become a classic and is one of the funniest movies you'll ever see.  Will Ferrell was the perfect choice.  It isn't as brilliant as The Santa Clause, but it's by far the funniest Christmas movie I've ever seen. The scene with the star and the tree is my favorite part.  It's one of the funniest scenes I've ever seen in a movie.  So many great lines and classic scenes make this a great movie to watch with your friends and family.

Christmas Vacation:

If there's one movie that could compete with Elf as the funniest Christmas movie, it would be this one.  My family watches this one ever year.  It's just a classic.  Chevy Chase and Randy Quaid are comic geniuses.  There's so many classic scenes to remember. From the lights on the house to the squirrel incident, there's something hysterical to laugh at in every scene.  It isn't as heartfelt as the other two I mentioned, but it keeps the laughter going the whole time.

Merry Christmas guys! Hope you all have a great one!

Just hear me out

You guys are probably tired of listening, and reading, about Tim Tebow. The guy's name is everywhere. He's become one of the most popular people in the country.  Everyone is talking about him. I just want to share with you what I think of him. So just hear me out.

This "Tebow-mania" has been around for a few years now.  It began when he was the starting quarterback at Florida.  Tebow displayed a strong disciplined football player who wasn't ashamed of expressing his beliefs.  As a Christian, I've admired what he has done throughout these past few years.  He's not afraid to tell you that he's pro-life and a virgin who is waiting for marriage. After winning two BCS championships and a Heisman trophy at Florida, Tebow is now making history in the NFL. There has never been a sports figure like him.  His likability has been spreading like a wildfire.  Earlier this year, he was drafted to the Denver Broncos.  All the skeptics began to voice their criticism about his "playing ability." He's been talked about nearly every day on ESPN since April.  Brett Favre, Tony Romo, and Tiger Woods seem like nobodies compared to the amount of discussions about him on sports networks. Despite what all his critics have been saying about his passing ability, the man is 6-1 as a starter this season. He took an anemic 1-4 Broncos team and has turned them into a playoff contender.  His 4th quarter comebacks combined with his indelible passion has breathed new life back into this football team. They're now a big threat in their division. These next few weeks will be very interesting and will determine his future with the Denver Broncos.

His football ability is outstanding and baffling at the same time.  But his love for Christ is really what is causing all the commotion around the country. The guy is a devout Christian.  That already makes him a clear target for the media. Players have mocked his praying in games and other players have complained that he talks about his Jesus way too much.  I watched Skip Bayless' (Tebow's biggest fan) interview with Tebow.  Skip asked him about Jake Plummer's comments which said that he was tired of hearing Tebow talk about his faith.  Tebow's response was perfect.  He compared expressing his love for Christ to the relationship between a husband and wife.  He asked should a man tell his wife he loves her on their wedding day and then not say it again? No. He should tell her that every day.  That's the way he feels about Christ.  He deserves an I love you every single day because of what he did on the cross for us. That was just an awesome response.

Tebow is a leader.  People follow -and will continue to follow- him because of the character he displays. He's a role model for me and should be for any guy out there.  He's a tough guy who has to fight through all the scrutiny on TV and all the hits on the field. I respect him for what he has done and what he continues to do.  Many people will keep on hating him for whatever reason.  Maybe because his goodness offends them or maybe because he doesn't play football the "right way." Or maybe it's because he stands for something bigger than himself.  He stands for something that is powerful and convicting at the same time.  He stands for Christ.  As believers, we have to be encouraged that there are guys like this in the entertainment world who are for Christ and are not ashamed to admit it.  That's Tebowing.

Best time of the year

Football is intensifying.  School is winding down.  The holidays are approaching.  It's my favorite time of the year.

These last two months are the best.  Football games are getting better and better.  My Dallas Cowboys are on a three game win streak and are looking sharp going into the later part of the season. Finals are almost here, which means the semester is almost over. I'm so ready for this semester to be done.  These senior level classes are killing me. But on the bright side, Thanksgiving is like three days away. Can you believe it? Soon we'll be scarfing down turkey and stuffing and watching football on the couch. I can smell the apple pie already.

Then, before we know it, it'll be Christmas.  My wife and I are getting excited. We've started watching movies like Home Alone and The Grinch. And we've got Bing Crosby blaring in the background.  The shopping (madness) has also begun.  I'm determined to get all my shopping done before Christmas Eve.  There always seems to be that one relative I always forget about. It's the craziest time of the year, but I love it.

Hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving!

Another mission

It's been five years since the last mission impossible hit theaters. Tom Cruise's hot movie career is currently running out of steam.  But playing the role of Ethan Hunt has always proved to be a hit for the movie star.  I for one am excited about the latest installment in the popular franchise. If you haven't seen a trailer yet for it, watch it now.  It looks like a solid action film that stays true to the previous three.

There's a slew of potentially good movies coming out this holiday season: The Muppets, Happy Feet 2, Sherlock Holmes 2, The Adventures of Tintin, and of course Mission Impossible 4 are among the most talked about. Did you notice a certain vampire movie missing from the list? Good. It shouldn't be mentioned by name.  We'll leave that to the crazy teenage girls.

I'm most excited about the new mission impossible.  I mean sure Tom Cruise isn't the big star he used to be but you can't blame a guy for continuing to try.  His character, Ethan Hunt, is always fun to watch because of his intelligence and his sudden bursts of rage/violence. These movies are always exciting and provide lots of cleverness and intense action scenes to keep you engaged. After you watch the trailer for the new one you'll discover that they've really raised the bar on the action and the stunts.  And they've even added a rising star, Jeremy Renner, to the cast.  Great move Brad Bird.

So does the world need another mission impossible movie? Is three not enough? In this sequel driven business, three is not enough.  There have been awful sequels to great movies. Did anybody really like the 10 saw sequels? I mean wow.  Yes one can, and most likely will, go into this movie with a sense of skepticism.  But you can't help but think that maybe this one will continue the greatness of its predecessors and raise the bar once again to new heights.  I think I'll be accepting this mission.

A great trip

This past week my wife, Caitlin, and our families traveled to Colorado for fall break.  For as long as we've been together, Caitlin has raved about Colorado.  She would tell me stories about her trips to Colorado when she was younger.  The place she mentioned the most was the Garden of the Gods.  When I first heard that name my mind went crazy. I was suddenly trying to imagine this place in my head.  I just couldn't wait to see pictures of it.  Once I saw them I wanted to visit asap.  Well a few years later I got the chance to.  On Thursday we embarked, along with our families. Once we passed the incredibly dull state of Kansas, I could see the outline of a mountain in the distance.  The excitement was building up.  Then before I knew it, we were in Colorado Springs.

Mountains were everywhere. The air was cool.  Caitlin and I were grinning like crazy. The next day we met up with our families at the Garden of the Gods.  I was brimming with anticipation.  We got into our cars and made our way into the mountains.  The view was spectacular.  Beautiful colors, combined with enormous rocks and cliffs, surrounded us.  Climbing the rocks was just awesome.  I can't describe it any other way.  The excitement of climbing higher and higher is just an amazing feeling.  Every few minutes I would stop and just stare at what I had just climbed. After hours of climbing and hiking, the kids went to the zoo.  My wife and I love going to the zoo. It's one of our favorite dates.  The zoo had this balcony that overlooked a dozen or so giraffes.  The giraffes would come up and get fed by people with crackers.    After the zoo, we all packed up and drove another five hours to our last destination, Ouray.  Ouray is a small town that sits inside the most beautiful mountains you'll ever see.

The guys, led by my father-in-law, drove up the mountain.  This was my favorite part of the trip.  We got up to about 12,000 feet high.  The view was breathtaking, once again.  We'd stop every few minutes and just gaze at the mountains. God is such an incredible designer.  I was taking pictures left and right of the yellow trees and the tranquil streams than ran along the mountains.  We even got high enough to see some snow.  Words like "sick", "wow", and "ridiculous" were echoed throughout the mountains.

Thinking about it is making me want to go back asap.  Colorado is such an incredible place.  The weather was perfect. The people were friendly. There were deer instead of squirrels roaming the streets. The pictures and videos I took just don't do it justice. You really have to experience it for yourself.  I hope to live there someday with my wife and our family.  It's one of our goals and dreams.

Thanks for reading! Hope you guys have a great week!

The Kite Runner

"There is a way to be good again." That's one of the many poignant lines from the novel, The Kite Runner.  The book is written by Khaled Hosseini, who is from Afghanistan.  Mr. Hosseini was born in the 60's and lived in Afghanistan until he was 12.  His family fled to France when news broke out that the Russians were invading. The news soon reached them that the Russians had indeed invaded Afghanistan and war had become reality. Khaled and his family remained in France for years until they finally moved to California.  Khaled was a bright kid who always loved reading, writing, and flying kites.  He went on to become a doctor and eventually got married. But after nearly a decade, he grew bored of his job and started writing. That's when The Kite Runner was created. There's some background on the author. Now to the book itself.

I had heard about this book from my uncle and cousin a while ago.  They raved about it.  I did some research and suddenly became interested.  I didn't know much about Afghanistan prior to reading this novel.  I mean I knew where it was on a globe and that Al-Qaeda was prominent there.  I went into this with a sense of curiosity.  I wanted to know more about this country that has become unanimous in the U.S.

The book is about a boy named Amir who lives in Kabul, Afghanistan.  He's a bright young boy who lives with his wealthy father. His mom had died years ago. Amir isn't much for sports - much to his father's chagrin. His father has two servants, a father and his son. They do everything for Amir and his dad. The young servant's name is Hassan.  Amir and his father are Pashtuns and the servants are Hazaras, who are viewed as inferior to everyone else. Despite the mockery of others, the boys remain good friends.  Kite running is THE sport in Kabul. It's very intense and involves kids from all over the area. Amir wants to win so badly for his father; he is constantly wanting to make his father proud.  A tragedy ends up happening that shakes the friendship between the boys and their fathers.  Amir is left guilty and ashamed.  After the tragedy, the Russians invade Afghanistan. This sends Amir and his father to America.  The story continues with Amir facing his past and searching to redeem himself after what had happened.

That's a  brief summary of the novel. So much occurs. I wish I could tell you more, but I want you to read it for yourself.  This is one of my favorite books for so many reasons.  The storytelling is just amazing and keeps you engaged.  It also has all the elements you want in a novel: Love, hate, friendship, betrayal, and redemption.  You learn a lot about a country that may seem vague to you. It was to me at first.  But now I know more about what this country was like before the Russian invasion and the rise of the Taliban.  The book is hard to read sometimes because of the violence and struggles people had to endure living in this country.  But once you start reading, you get lost in the story about these characters that are so diverse and so interesting that you just can't wait until the next chapter.  I highly recommend it and hope you will give it a chance.

Closer and closer

Being a senior is pretty weird and awesome at the same time. You're so close to graduating and ready to leave school behind.  I'll never forget that feeling on the last day of high school. It was euphoric and satisfying.

Now I'm a senior in college.  I'm awaiting the last day I step inside the Business building at UCO.  I'm on the 5 year CPA plan, so I still have another year after next spring.  It may sound like a while, but I'm so looking forward to getting it done.  I'm just ready for it to be over and have a job.

It's hard to believe it.  I'm getting closer and closer to not being a student anymore.  That day will be strange when I no longer have to prepare for class.  I won't have to worry about doing some extra studying the morning of the test or panicking when I've forgotten to print out an assignment.  You live and learn.

I'm ready to close one chapter and start a new one.  I'm not sure where you're at in your life. If you're just starting a new chapter or if you're ending one.  I hope you're living it out and taking advantage of each moment.  I've learned to really slow down and look at life.  It's really tough sometimes because life doesn't slow down.  It stubbornly keeps going and going.  You can't change that. But you can savor it.

You kinda get an idea of where my mind is at right now.  I've been doing a lot of thinking about the future and examining my time spent at school.  You learn and go through so much.  I'm at the end of a chapter, and I'm eagerly waiting for what the next one has in store.

They just don't make them like they used to

When was the last time you saw a good movie? I mean a really good movie.  One that really stood out to you and had you thinking about it on the way home.  Can you think of one?

Now don't get me wrong, there have been many good movies over the past decade. Films like The Lord of the Rings, The Dark Knight, Finding Nemo, and Inception might come to mind.  But when compared to the movies of the 90's, 80's, and 70's, there's just something missing.

This past decade was filled with "blockbusters." Movies that made box office history and featured the latest in special effects.  But when you watch them, most of them seem to lack something.  When I watch older movies like Jurassic Park, Star Wars,  and Braveheart, there's more of a cinematic feeling with them.  I don't know if it's the obsession with special effects and 3D that's caused this downgrade in hollywood. Or maybe it could be the plethora of unnecessary remakes that keep coming out every year.  Movies nowadays just lack the passion and the "wow" ingredient of older movies.  Movies like The Lord of the Rings and Avatar have helped perpetuate that feeling, but they still lack the originality of the movies that preceded them.  These films in the 80's and 90's are classics because of their freshness and their ability to produce classic scenes and memorable lines.

There are still a handful of movies each year that do surprise and dazzle the eyes.  But good old fashioned films are a thing of the past.  Moviemakers now focus on the special effects and what is "popular." As a movie fan I want to see more movies like Inception that are different and stretch the envelope. There are people in hollywood who want to make good films again. They just need to be given a chance.  Filmmakers like Michael Bay need to step down and let guys like JJ Abrams have their shot at movie history.

He can still do it.

Following a week filled with criticism and jokes, Tony Romo rebounded from last week to deliver a career defining performance. As a Dallas Cowboys fan, I can say that that game on Sunday will have a profound impact on this team going into week 3.  I'm in the minority of fans who still believe this guy can lead us back to the Super Bowl. As of late, I haven't had much evidence to support my belief.  But that game on Sunday provided plenty of evidence that this team, led by Romo, is ready to take the next step.

It's been a rough decade.  Just when things start to look good for the Cowboys, something dire happens. A season filled with hope and aspiration soon comes tumbling down with no way to bounce back.  Since 2006, Tony Romo has been the starting QB for America's Team, and with that comes the spotlight.  Being on this team puts you on every sports station and in every football conversation.  The critics and the analysts are after you because of what's on your helmet.  The star reminds us of the players that came before like Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Roger Staubach. They've all led the Cowboys to Super Bowl victories. The road to victory is an ongoing, burdensome road for Romo.  He takes the heat every week.  Even though he's broken numerous Cowboy records and holds the 4th best career passer rating, his record in the playoffs is a meager 1-3. That playoff record is the one that counts in the NFL.

I still believe in Romo.  He plodded through that game, despite having a fractured rib and a punctured lung.  He displayed the kind of toughness and leadership that great quarterbacks possess in late game situations.  Romo hasn't silenced his critics - just kept them off his back for this upcoming week. As a Cowboy fan, that's what you want to see out of him every week. Romo is human, and he will continue to make mistakes.  But if he continues to play like that every week, I can see these guys finishing with a good season. Now I'm not talking Super Bowl; we've had enough of that talk for the past 3 years.  We'll be lucky if we make it to the playoffs this year. But with this win, and the way it was played, you can go into week 3 with some hope and confidence.  I know I will.

Why do we love Pixar?

When it comes to making good quality films, Pixar gets it right.  With the exception of the Cars films, Pixar has been on a roll these past 15 years.  From classics like Toy Story and Finding Nemo, these movies have wowed us with their incredible stories and endless humor.  I still feel like a kid when I go see them. And yet I feel unashamed because I see lots of people my age in the theater with me. You don't have to be a kid to appreciate these movies. When you go see them you don't feel like you're getting cheated out of your money.  You know, because of their past movies, that you're going to get what you paid for.  As I read reviews about the latest Pixar movies, I'm still amazed at the praise these movies receive.  Words like "Brilliant," "Moving," and, "Powerful" are just some of the words used to describe them. I love these movies because they make me feel good.  The stories really stick with you, as well as the characters.  Nowadays, movies thrive on special effects and actors who are good looking.  They seem to be a blockbuster, but they have no plot and no heart.  It's hard to make a really good movie these days.  I just wish studios could invest as much time and energy and creativity into their work as Pixar does.  Pixar has set the bar high for movies longing to become a hit. They aren't flamboyant about their success and don't shove their fame in your face.  Pixar just does what it's been doing all these years, offering consistently good movies for moviegoers of all ages.  And that's why Pixar has the reputation it has.  I've enjoyed these movies for most of my life. And I can't wait for the day when I get to take my kids to go see one.

Please share your thoughts and opinions about Pixar.  Why do you love Pixar? What movies really stand out to you?

More than just a game

When people hear the word fall they think of the leaves changing colors, or maybe the weather getting cooler.  They think of school starting and new seasons of their favorite shows. One word comes to my mind when I hear fall, and that is football.

Watching football isn't just watching a sport, at least not for me.  I have very fond memories of watching games with my family, especially my dad and my grandpa. My dad, my brother, and I would go over to my grandpa's on game day.  We'd order large pizzas and down cans of soda as we watched our favorite teams battle it out.  It was bonding time.  I bonded with them in other ways too, but watching football is still my favorite.  The crazy screaming at the T.V., combined with the standing ovations as one player completes a pass or scores a touchdown, made each Sunday memorable.  It was always a joy watching them react to each play of every game. After the game we'd go outside and play in the yard, pretending to be our favorite players.  Something as simple as playing catch could make us laugh and shout and go crazy.

I know too many useless facts about football. But it's always fun to talk about how players have improved and how you think your team will do this year.  Yes there's always bragging rights and the gloating of hardcore fans, but there's also something that happens internally.  I love my dad and my grandpa so much.  I will always have these crazy memories to remind me of time spent together with them.

So you kinda get an idea of where my mind is at currently.  I'm stoked for this season.  Whether it's college or the NFL playing, I'll be rooting my team on with my brother, dad, and grandpa screaming along with me.  It's almost here!

Paradise

Getting engaged last summer was one awesome/crazy experience.  You're suddenly the center of attention. Everyone wants to know how it happened. Your family congratulates you effusively. Lots of hugs and kisses and "aww" moments come your way, every day.  One of the biggest things that comes to mind is......the honeymoon.  The big trip.  An exotic getaway with your new spouse.  After months of discussing, we came to a decision. Cancun, Mexico would be our destination for a week.  We were elated and couldn't wait for next summer.  After a year of school and wedding shoots, our time had finally come.  On May 23rd we embarked on our trip to paradise.  Now this week is supposed to be absolutely perfect right? Well it didn't start out that way.  On our flight to Dallas, we encountered a storm.  Not a metaphor. An actual storm with lightning and strong winds and unforgiving hail.  We reached the tarmac at the airport and we suddenly found ourselves in the back of a long line of planes.  There were at least a dozen of them ahead of us. One of those "oh crap" moments you see in movies. The planes were being inspected because of the storm. So we waited on the plane for over an hour. The thought of missing our next flight became reality very quickly. After a long grueling wait at the airport, getting new tickets, and locating our luggage, we headed to a hotel.  My mom saved the day. We were able to find a nice hotel near the airport.  My mom's friend works in the hotel business and got us a room. Well not just a room. A suite.  So the day ended well. We got chicken and hamburgers.  And to top it off....my Mavs won in overtime. : ) The next day we arrived! We were finally there.  The ride to our resort was quite entertaining.  Resorts consumed the streets.  The size of them was just unbelievable.  You couldn't help but just stare in awe. Our resort was at the very end of the peninsula.  Before we knew it we were in our room. We had a sweet balcony that overlooked the beach. You just stare out the window and all you see is the ocean and hundreds of resorts along the sand. Every morning I would sit at our table on the balcony and just look at the ocean.  There's nothing like it. Our week consisted of swimming with dolphins, ordering room service (averaged four calls a day), tanning, and hanging out on the beach.  The weather was perfect.  It never exceeded 85 degrees. Swimming with dolphins was awesome. Seeing Caitlin just light up when she played with them was pretty cool to watch. The dolphins were so smart and obeyed every command the trainer gave them.  They danced for us and made hilarious noises in response to our splashing. Having them push you with their noses was the coolest thing ever.  You feel like you're flying for a good 8 seconds. By far the best week I've ever had.  Experiencing that place just makes me want to work hard and make money so I can go back and do it all over again.  It's the perfect getaway.  If you ever get the chance someday, I highly recommend going there.  Great location with incredible service and enough activities to keep you busy all week.

Summer 2011 Flicks

I'm an avid movie fan.  I could watch movies all day.  When Caitlin and I started dating we'd watch movies like every night. The fun part was figuring out who had seen more movies. I had finally met my match.

My favorite time of the year is summer.  The primary reason, other than being free from school, is the plethora of movies showing during those few months. I love talking about movies. It's interesting to hear why people love certain movies and why they dislike others. Since this summer is just about over, I would like to share with you some of my favorite movies that I've seen recently, and some that missed the mark for me.

1. Thor

Iron Man. The Dark Knight. Batman Begins.  It's hard to measure up to these superhero movies.  They've really set the bar high and have reached the upper echelon of superhero movies.  So coming into this movie you can't help but compare it with those three.  I was just looking to be entertained.  I had just finished my last final earlier that day.  I was done for the summer and wanting to celebrate.  So I went and saw it with my friends.  Through all the action and special effects, there was a good interesting story being told.  When the movie ended I looked to my friend next to me and we simultaneously said "good." The film had a good blend of action, storytelling, and humor.  Chris Hemsworth (Thor) does a great job playing the god of thunder.  He had a lot of pressure coming into this after what Robert Downey Jr did with Iron Man.  But he handled it well and gave a solid performance and made you root for him.   Natalie Portman played the typical damsel in distress. And it even had Anthony Hopkins, one of my all time favorites, as Thor's father.  A solid cast with cool special effects and a story that keeps you intrigued made this a good movie that I highly recommend.  It's no Dark Knight, but it's vastly better than movies like Daredevil, Fantastic Four, and Spider-man 3.

2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

Two weeks ago Caitlin and I started watching the Harry Potter films.  We were curious and wanted to know what was the big deal with these movies.  So we watched them.  And we loved them.  Now it was time to see the final movie.  The one that broke all these box office records and drew massive crowds of wannabe wizards. And we were even lucky to sit in a teenaged filled theater for two and a half hours.  Oh the joy.  I managed to block them out and enjoy this amazing film.  I was ready, especially after the last two, to see the final battle.  All the emotion of the last two had me wanting revenge and satisfaction.  The movie delivered on so many levels.  I was suddenly a Harry Potter enthusiast.  I caught myself chatting about each character and muttering spells.  The actors were at the top of their game.  Alan Rickman (Snape) and Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort)  were my favorites.  Each one was cunning and outstanding in their finest hour.   This was by far my favorite movie of the summer.  I know now why so many people around the world love these movies.  I can't wait to show these movies to my kids someday and tell them of the cultural impact they had.  Even if you're not much for fantasy movies, these movies provide enough humor and drama to draw you in.  I will definitely be buying this one once it comes out on DVD.

3.  Green Lantern

During the summer there's bound to be some movies that just don't strike the right chord.  Green Lantern was one of them.  Let me start off by saying that I'm a Ryan Reynolds fan.  He's funny and smart and has that personality that audiences seem to be attracted to.  So when I heard he was going to be Green Lantern I was intrigued.  Then I found out Martin Campbell would be directing.  Mr. Campbell directed Goldeneye, The Mask of Zorro, and Casino Royale.  He's one of my favorites.  So this had lots of potential going into it.  Then came opening night.  I saw it with my wife and our friends.  The movie itself is very fantasy driven.  I knew it was going to be going into it but it just didn't quite sink in. Thor was very much a fantasy, but it balanced that with what was going on on Earth really well. Green Lantern didn't.  Ryan was himself.  He was witty and crazy and amusing, just like his other characters.  But the chemistry with him and Blake Lively just wasn't there.  Robert Downey and Gwyneth Paltrow had great chemistry and humor with one another in the Iron Man films.  It just felt extra fake when Ryan and Blake talked.  Just not a good script at all. And then there's the villain.  Probably the worst villain ever in superhero movie history. Now some may say Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze was. It was indeed a monstrosity. But he was also freaking hilarious and made that movie an entertaining comedy instead of just being a crappy superhero movie.  This Green Lantern villain wasn't funny nor was good at being bad.  The action was ok and was sort of cool to watch.  But it just didn't look right in some parts.  The film felt like it was 30 min long.  When it ended I actually thought to myself how could they have made that. I thought surely I must have dreamt all that.  So they made a bad film. Who hasn't? Ryan is still a good actor and Martin is still a good director.  But they'll always have this movie haunting them.  Many fans and critics chastised it.  I can think of a lot of films that are worse than it but it did leave an unpleasant taste in my mouth.  My wife and some of my friends enjoyed it so it wasn't like everyone hated it.  Just didn't hit the right spot withe me like Thor and Iron Man did.

Thank you guys for reading.  Like I said, I love movies.  I'll be talking about movies a lot in my future posts.  Hope you all have a good rest of the week! See ya next time.

Intro

Greetings. I've decided to try this out.  I'll be sharing some of my thoughts about life, movies, music, history, and some random things that I find interesting. Starting tomorrow I'll be posting more. Hope you guys enjoy!
